Ready for a New Year

Doesn't it always seem we can't wait for Christmas.. then we can't wait for it to be over!!  I long for the days when I was a kid and just got to enjoy Christmas.  I don't want to be "Santa".  I'm starting to think that a nice tropical vacation during the holidays would be the ticket!  Now I know why all the celebrities do it. 

I'm excited for the new year..2012.  I'm thinking about trying to run in a few 5k's this year.  So, I'll be starting my 13 week program to get me ready next week.  I think I'm going to need a lot of prayer.  Running is not my thing.  I usually only run when someone is chasing me!  But, I need to get this old body back in shape and "starting a diet" is just not going to work this time. 

I'm thinking about making my new years resolution to be: getting a passport and USING it!

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what the new year holds.

I smell smoke...

While riding home from work yesterday, I was able to snap this picture of the sky.  It's hard to see from the picture but it looked as if the sky was on fire.  It got me to thinking about how awesome God is!  I couldn't take my eyes off of it. The clouds were floating in a way that it looked how fire does when it laps up a log in a fireplace.

What's in a name...

So, this is my first time trying my hand at "blogging".  Sounds like a word from another language to me!  I'm that 40 something mom with 100 million things to do.  When do I have time to sit and write down my thoughts! Well after chatting it over with a few of my 20 something friends.. here I go.  I thought maybe all you folks in cyberland would have a more open ear for listening to my endless rants.  I'm sure my hubby would appreicate the break. 

Burnt Cookies just sounded "right".  I know somewhere under this crusty exterior there is a soft, delightful, and sweet cookie.  I just can't find it!  Life has a way of turning up the heat till you get burnt super crispy.
